A VIDEO I PRODUCED FOR ROBERT BURNS DAY CELEBRATIONS

My marketing career began during my studies. I worked part time for business, Universities and Scottish Health projects as a researcher. Interested in power to influence and educate, my BA communications dissertation focussed on AIDS and the media. After, as an academic, business and media researcher, I moved into programme production. Employed by the BBC, I also worked freelance for STV and SKY.

From the media I moved in to marketing, events and management. A Chartered Marketer with an MBA, senior roles gave me further PR and media expertise. Giving interviews to press, radio and TV, I also wrote newspaper columns. Freelance, I produced features for press and magazines, my photos published and also used in social media.

One of my hobbies is to produce features on Scottish and Irish culture, Trad music and the environment. My photojournalism, People of the Sea and other projects have also led to radio and TV shows. Radio shows "Shona McMillan Celtic Reflections" leading to new creative collaborations. Plus, engagements such as BC Highland Games Announcer, TV researcher, presenter on a mini documentary and assisting behind the scenes in Nautica advertising in Scotland eg: research and setting up of the fishing film from Fisherrow.

In community and educational projects I have taught media, health and life skills to people of all ages, helping them develop confidence and abilities through partnership projects I have built with festivals, radio stations, cultural and sporting organisations. Recent projects include volunteer work with local groups and being appointed as a Charity Trustee.

SOCIAL MEDIA PROJECTS -

FUNDRAISING AND EDUCATIONAL

I support charities by contributing my business and creative skills eg: fundraising and PR for RNLI, Cancer charities, Alzheimers education, environmental groups, RSPB, SWT etc. I also campaign and attempt to use social media to educate against litter and fly tipping.

Interested in aurora and noctilucent clouds, I set up an online group. Now over 5,000 members, we work together. to pull our photo knowledge.  Project outcomes also being guided by me to boost B and B sales in rural areas ideal for 'aurora chasing'.
